We are intervening! Critical perspectives on the 'Sinti and Roma' exhibition at Sachsenhausen concentration camp
Trailer for the exhibition (Era Trammer, 2024)
Together with the Bildungsforum gegen Antiziganismus, we invited activists, academics and political educators to intervene in the permanent exhibition ‘Sinti and Roma in Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp’ with their thoughts and positions.
The interveners took a constructive and critical look at the exhibition from 2004. The focus is on their reflections on dealing with racist language and problematic exhibits - such as photographs taken under duress or face prints made by a ‘race researcher’ - as well as the visualisation of the fight against antiziganism after 1945 by civil rights activists.
With commentaries and new, previously less considered content on neon-yellow stickers and additional panels, as well as a screen that protects against the spontaneous viewing of particularly sensitive, racist exhibits, they enable a current and critical view of the memory of the genocide of the Sinti* and Roma*.
